The Silence in Her Eyes by Armando Lucas Correa

4.0

As someone who rarely reads mystery and thriller novels, I can't vouch if this is a psychological thriller but imho it reads like one.

The Silence in Her Eyes is Armando Lucas Correa's newest offering following a main character, Leah, who is living with motion blindness or akinetopsia.

The novel started following the death of MC's mom and her first steps as she navigate the fast-paced world on her own.

It's a short novel since ARC is up to 255 pages so I can say that it's a quick read and I even finished it in two sittings.

This piqued my interest as the mysterious neighbor, Alice, was introduced as someone who is in the process of divorcing her rich lawyer husband who is abusive. And since Leah and Alice's apartment are connected, Leah heightened sense of hearing allowed her to hear Alice's struggle which led to the MC sympathizing with her neighbor and even befriending her.

The mystery surrounding Alice's husband and if he is the one intruding Leah's apartment is the peak of this novel that's why when things unraveled at around 70% of the book, it felt anticlimactic to read the rest of the book.

It was still a decent wrapup reading what happened after Leah met Alice's husband but the revelations after that felt a bit force (but maybe it was a me problem since I got obsessed with the mystery about Alice's lover)

Overall, TSIHE is an engaging and thrilling read. If not for the way the story wrapped up, I can easily rate this as a 5-star read.
