This was so fucking good. Fonda Lee dose not shy away from killing characters or creating unbelievably stressful situation for her characters or for you. And her writing!! Blood fantastic. She is so intentional, that you know if she mentions something it’s because it’s important and something is going to happen because of it. 
I wasn’t entirely feeling the characters in the first novel but NOW! I ducking love them. So much respect for Fonda for making realistic family relationships. 
Also the world building, creating a world so complex but easy to follow along with all the politics, the waring countries, how Jade is impacting other economies and military and peoples daily lives. This was stunning.
