The Duke and I by Julia Quinn

3.0

Overall, it was fun to read. Very, very simple in nature. Silly. Very uncomplicated. Tropes abound. Junk food. I’d already seen the show and so I was aware of the discourse and discomfort around the scene of consent, so that didn’t surprise me. I will say, though, it did feel very uncomfortable, even knowing what was going to happen — and I think the narrative explanation of it all made it a bit … worse, somehow? It sort of dropped me out of the light little world that Quinn had built. Outside of that, just a mindless break from heavier literature!
