Holy smokes, now this is what I call a sequel!
This book was bloody incredible.

Amazing new cast of characters, bone-chilling battle sequences, great character development, tumultuous romance, beautifully written politics && THAT DUEL at the end???

Bravo! This book just kept getting better and better and I cannot wait to read the finale of this amazing series.

One of my (very) small gripes about this series is that some of these characters are really similar to characters In the first law, and that’s why I rated this book kinda low. Thorn Bathu reminded me too much of Ferro, heck she reminds me a little bit of Tinnstra (from The Last War trilogy).
Most of the battle hardened women written by men are a little but samey to me, not that they’re not wonderful characters. They are. I just wish men understood that the female rage is not always scowls and bitter words and physical aggression. Sometimes female rage is deep, quiet and simmering and patient. Mine certainly is. But that’s just a small nitpick.
Maybe it’s also because I’m reading the first law trilogy alongside this series that I think the similarities between these characters are jarring but it doesn’t take away from how well these characters are written on their own and how well the plot moves. The pacing was spot on. The story was incredible.

This book was brilliant, and I highly recommend it!
