This started out slow but like his other book, The Getaway, the intensity dials up. This would have fit in perfectly as an episode of Nickelodeon’s throwback series Are You Afraid of the Dark? but gritter. It’s YA but the author effortlessly pushes the limits by including the appropriate amount of gore and violence as Cade tries to figure out how to undo his careless wish. The plot twists surprised me, but the ending was unsatisfying with characters’ fates left too open for interpretation.
