We are all subject to the fates. But we must act as if we are not, or die of despair.

I liked this book, but I didn't. I don't really know which age group it was written for, but it definitely couldn't hold my attention as well as it should have. Either way, I think the creators of the show did a great job with the first season.

In any case, Lyra is a very spirited and captivating protagonist, charming and persistent, a real role model for the younger generation. Ms. Coulter, probably one of my favorite characters, she has real depth, is mystical, and works in darkness throughout, in short, quite complex. The other characters had a lot of influence on the story (or not), they were likeable in their own way.

The plot was creative and felt, I especially liked the lore. It was fast and action-packed throughout. I liked the ending, but not enough to continue.
