A student in forensic pathology is assigned the topic of forensic DNA for her dissertation project and this starts a cascade of events that lead to a cold case disappearance from 30 years ago that gripped the entire nation and also to the supposed drug overdose death of the Sheriff who was investigating the case. The student, Sloane Hastings (aka Baby Charlotte), is literally the key to all of the secrets from 30 years ago. Charlie Donlea does a terrific job of going back and forth from the events of 30 years ago to the present day as the intriguing, and suspenseful mystery unfolds.
