People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
5.0
buttery and warm and sweet and perfect.”
This quote from the book sums up how I felt about this book in it's entirety.
What can I say? Last year when Beach Read was trending I wasn't able to read it so when I saw this on Netgalley, i figured it if all the rage about Beach Read was anything to go by, I wouldn't be disappointed and I'm happy I wasn't. Emily is definitely making her way up my favourites list.
Friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and this book checks all the right boxes! We watch Alex and Poppy transition from being friends to lovers and the journey is beautiful. I loved their friendship, it was real, authentic and basically everything you'd wish for in a friend. They go in these summer trips together and after one particular trip everything changes. We alternate between before and now and it was so beautiful watching them navigate their feelings as they realized they wanted more from each other.
Alex holds a special place in my heart. I mean how won't he when he says things like this;
“You won’t lose me,” he says, voice dimmed by the rain. “As long as you want me, I’m here.”
“I don’t know how to love someone as much as I love you,” he says.
Other quotes I loved cause this was full of good ones:
“I know,” I tell him, and, “I love you too.” It’s true, but not the full truth. There aren’t words vast or specific enough to capture the ecstasy and the ache and love and fear I feel just looking at him now.
I love him so much. I love him more than I did yesterday, and I already know tomorrow I’ll love him even more, because every piece of him he gives me is another to fall in love with.
I had all these feelings when I was done and it's not often that happens. I felt this in a way that hardly happens. Basically I loved this one and I'm excited to try Beach Read now.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
