Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry

4.0

Really between 3.5 and 4. Had heard or read an interview and was intrigued. I made it halfway through and then had to start skimming because it was just too depressing. It’s incredibly sad that a person with (seemingly) everything could spend most of his life feeling like he wasn’t enough.

It’s also a strong condemnation of many rehab programs and facilities.

Unfortunately, it’s poorly edited. There are spots where it’s ungrammatical; not sure if it was supposed to have some kind of effect, but I found it distracting. Also, there were a couple of spots in the last couple of chapters that sounded like an ending, but weren’t.
