A White So Red by Krystle Jones, K.D. Jones
4.0
I have long been a fan of reimagined fairy tales. I love seeing what authors come up with to put a new spin on long time favorite fairy tales. "A White So Red" is a new version of Snow White. Natalia and her younger sister Rose live with their "wicked" stepmother Queen Octavia after their father's death. This Queen is hard core evil. In fact, the whole book is very dark and bleak in mood. However I found the story compulsively readable. I didn't honestly know whether things were going to work out. In fact, the dwarves scared the jeebes out of me when the were introduced. These are a far cry from Disney's little good natured fellows. Still the parts of the story pertaining to the dwarves are some of the most exciting in the book. I also was crazy about Prince Casper and he stole every single scene he was in. The ending is exciting and well planned out. The author is quite talented and I hope she writes more stories like this. My only complaint is that some of the magical aspects of the story were odd and fast paced and I almost wanted a better description of what was unraveling. I am however very happy to have read this one. And the cover is just gorgeous. I will be looking for future releases from this author.
