I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did, but I actually really liked it.

The world building and magic system was pretty unique and I felt like it was explained well. The story was fairly fast paced and there was enough going on without being overwhelming. There were twists and turns with some I expected and others I didn’t.

Elspeth was a good character. I thought she did good with the lot she’d been given. She was smart and didn’t let herself be helpless.

I really liked Raven. He’s one of those, tough on the outside but will burn the world down for the people he loves, kind of people and I love that.

And all of Raven’s family were great. So many good characters with interesting stories and fun interactions.

I can’t wait to read the next one and see how all the things get tied up!

Also, the narrator for this was fantastic! I enjoyed it a lot.
