Wow, this book leaves a mark on your heart by the end. I feel like this is one of those books i’ll always carry in high regard. Marian & Laila are beautifully constructed characters that you truly feel and empathize with throughout the entire story. The story progressed so fluidly, it’s amazing how perfectly he spans through thirty years of history throughout the book. And as an american this book was so culturally eye opening for me, a world I truly know nothing about. it gives you insight and makes you grateful for the privileges we as women and mothers have had over the last 40 years that we have truly taken for granted.
