Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

5.0

I am so mad at myself that I let this book go unread for so long! We bought it on pre-order because both my husband and I enjoy Andy Weir. I thought it was more my husband, but nope, I think I love Andy Weir as much as him. Even though I have read both Artemis and The Martian, I just needed a reminder. Though, I will say that Project Hail Mary has been my favorite – but the others are a close second and third.

For some the level of scientific detail that this book goes into can be off-putting, and I will admit, that I did get lost in some of the details – but they kept me engaged and wanting more. I love learning and thrillers. So if Andy Weir could just start writing science textbooks the way he writes his novels, I would read those as well – HA!

This story is centered around Dr Ryland Grace and well, his ability to save the world. There are two timelines, both what Dr Grace is going through currently aboard the earth saving ship he’s on, and the timeline of how he, a middle school science teacher, ended up aboard this earth saving vessel. When Dr Grace wakes up all he knows is that he’s been asleep a very, very long time and there are two dead people in beds next to him. He can’t remember anything.

The story that unfolds is truly interesting and enlightening. I can’t wait for Mr Weir’s next book! This was a superb 5/5 star read.
