More like 4.5. What I loved best about the book is the history the two characters already share at the start of the novel. They are complex people, a heroine who loved her husband dearly but had to leave him if she didn't want to lose her sanity. We basically get the story of how they both come together again, and it's lovely. I may have teared up at the end (which doesn't happen very often in historical romances for me).
