A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

So, Feyre has just saved the entire Fae population from Amarantha, has died doing so and was revived as a High Fae.

She now returns to the Spring Court, where she is being kept, monitored, almost like she is being imprisoned and can’t even choose her own clothing or what she wants to do.

What irks me most in this book is how Tamlin, for me, is a narcisistic lover. Feyre can’t do what she wants, she is in pain and he doesn’t care, or doesn’t notice. He only keeps her out of everything, trying to protect her? And she dumbfoundedly doesn’t see it for what it is? She keeps saying she detests the Night Court, detests Rhysand, but he is there for her, he listens to her, makes time for her, pushes her to be herself and come up for herself. How can she not see that he is better for her, her High Lord Tamlin ignores how she feels, what she wants, and doesn’t make time for her.

“Love can be a poison.”

This part of the book for me is hard to read. Coming from such a marriage myself and discovering the other option, a husband that supports you, pushes you to be yourself, …. I cannot understand how she doesn’t see it. But then again… I didn’t either untill I was challenged to take a good look at myself, my situation and decide for ME, not for what I thought was good for someone other than me.

Anywho, the first part is all Tamlin, Tamlin, Tamlin, we get to see how Feyre is silently waisting away. Her marriage to Tamlin gets closer and she starts to face a hollowness inside. She has some doubts but she also has nightmares and she's not able to let go of what she faced under the mountain. As her marriage approaches she cries out for help, she cries out for anyone to save her, get her out of there, because she is not sure if she wants to marry Tamlin, if she is worthy of marrying a High Lord.

I mean… she just saved an entire land, all of its people, died doing so… let’s not forget she is a High Fae now, with powers that defy everything… But there she is, doubting if she is WORTHY of marrying a High Lord… SMH.

“There are good days and hard days for me—even now. Don’t let the hard days win.”

This book… is a sort of reflection for me, I see the struggles and I see what Feyre is going through and how she fights it, how she pushes through everything. So yeah A Court of Mist and Fury is one of the best books I have read so far. I've had some tears and some laughs but mostly tears and some red ears.

There are some really spicy scenes, some less spicy scenes, some really cute and romantic scenes but overall some spicy scenes. And there are some moments where Rhys says things to Feyre, which, I mean, come on….

This book, I'm not sure how to review this because it has everything there has to be in a book. There was action and suspense and romance, history, surprising twists. It was building up from the 1st page and perfectly set up to reveal a sort of big Bang. There were also quite a couple of things like minor details from the 1st book that turned out to be quite some huge reveal in this one.

The book is hot. It's hot and I can't say it enough, it is a hot like a devil sauce 25 thousand peppers something hot. So yeah, about this review. I think it could have been a bit more detailed, although I always try to make sure that I don't spoil anything. It's probably all over the place but that's sort of how the book made me feel, a bit messy, a bit disorganised and a seriously hot mess. And as I'm writing this review I can't wait to dive in the next book and to continue this series. And although this is the 2nd time I'm reading these books They still grip me from beginning to end.
