Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe
5.0
I don't often write reviews and I don't read very many non-fiction books, but this book was so fantastic that I had to write something about it. Honestly, before I read this book I am ashamed to say, but I had never heard of "The Troubles". I had heard of the IRA but didn't know anything about it. Infact, I think the most I had heard about it came from watching Downton Abbey. Now that I know a bit more, I keep thinking of scenes in movies or books that went right over my head because I didn't have a clue what was going on.
We weren't taught any Irish history that I can recall in school, and if I hadn't just came across this book on my libraries browsing page, I probably would have never read it. I am so glad I did. I already have several documentaries lined up to watch now.
I will say this-I never knew much (and still don't) about Irish people, but one thing I learned about them in this book: they are fighters!
