The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley
3.0
I like it. I love Aerin and Talat and Tor (who I pictured as Chris Hemsworth *facepalm*) a lot. I especially like the relationship between Aerin and Talat and how Aerin (and before her, Arlbeth) wouldn't give up on Talat and how Talat wouldn't give up on her and stayed on her side when every other (war) horse would long have had fled since. I still haven't figured out, though, if the horses in this world are semi-sentient or not. -.-
The story itself is good too. Some things went by a bit quickly (like the fight with Maur and then Agsded) and I always felt that I'm missing something (like, what is the Gift really? What about Luthe? Where did that love story come from?), but I still enjoyed the story a lot.
