This is a dark, feminist fairy tale inspired by ancient Persian legends and stories. I listened to the audiobook and it was nice to hear the pronunciation of the Persian words. This was an interesting read with themes of family, loyalty, love, magic, betrayal, and belonging. I love the choices the main character makes at the end of the story.
