Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer
5.0
WOW!!!! Becky lives and breathes for her daughter Meghan, who she believes is gravely I'll and is misdiagnosed. Carl, her husband doesn't believe that Meghan's condition is real and may be a product of Becky's obsession with proving Meghan is sick. Meghan has secrets of her own that she is hiding. Is Meghan's illness truly real or is it a case of medical abuse on her mother's part? What is her father's role in this whole thing?
I've never really read a medical thriller but after reading this one, I'm wondering why I waited so long. The author paid so much attention to detail that I could not put this book down. I wanted to know more about the family, as well as what was going with Meghan. My heart broke for her whenever she had another crisis. I related to Becky but the author did such a great job with the mystery that I couldn't commit to truly trusting Becky. Every character had their own level of complexity and depth. I found myself wanting to scream at the pages because at times I wanted Meghan to just jump up and say something.
The family dynamic and drama was the core of this story. It made it so difficult to decipher the truth. By the time, the truth was revealed my jaw dropped. The author did a phenomenal job weaving it all together in the end. I was so emotional by the end which for me is a marker of a greatly spun tale. Bravo DJ Palmer! I can't wait to read more of his work.
