Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

3.0
I wish there was a 3.5 star rating option.
This was an okay book. It wasn't bad. It was a quick and easy read. But I was pretty bored. If it hadn't been such a quick read I would have probably stopped before halfway. I just was not invested in most of the characters. I think it suffered from too many POVs that everyone kind of got lost and so I had a vague sense of everyone, but nothing super deep. Also I got when there were new characters introduced after the 50% point! Why! The reason I loved this author's writing in the past was because I grew so attached to the characters and unfortunately this just didn't do that for me.
This is a fine story with fine characters, but nothing groundbreaking or anything to hook me.
I absolutely loved the reckoning at the end which is why I would love to give it an extra half star just because I was so proud! But yeah pretty vanilla characters and easily resolved (and pretty bland) drama other than that.
