Forks Over Knives--The Cookbook: Over 300 Recipes for Plant-Based Eating All Through the Year by Del Sroufe

3.0

My initial quick flip through 6 or 8 recipes in this, I thought this was going to be one of the most amazing cookbooks ever. However, a careful page-by-page read has lowered my expectations. Many of the recipes either have a very similar base (onion, carrot, celery and same basic spices) or rely on one of the handful of sauces in the beginning of the book paired with different ingredients. It quickly became clear that I could often take one main recipe in a group and just vary the vegetables in it myself. So far, I have only tried one recipe (the brown sauce) and I was NOT impressed with that. Very unbalance with an overwhelming soy sauce flavor. It does give me a starting point for making my own brown sauce, but that's all I can say for it. Will update as I try other recipes in the book.
