“My life was narrated for me by others. Their voices were forceful, emphatic, absolute. It had never occurred to me that my voice might be as strong as theirs.”

This book was so darn good! Westover has a really intellectual mind, and I really admire how strong and determined she is.

She really shares how long a journey she has had, and she did a great job writing it. And her learning her identity, independence was really different to me as a reader, because most characters didn't really sound as lost as she started, with her depending on what she was taught, not given a chance to see the world through her own eyes.
