In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead
5.0
It has been far too long since I’ve been able to rate a thriller five stars. But this one blew me out of the water.
With a dual timeline, we get to watch things unfold in the past as they are dragged out of characters in the present. During a high school reunion, secrets that laid suppressed and buried for ten years are finally coming out – and everyone seems guilty of something. But the real question is, how many of them are guilty of their friend’s murder?
Each character felt real to me. They each had their own insecurities, their own weaknesses – they were full characters, well-rounded in every way. And they each made mistakes. Some were just worse than others.
The misleading notions to keep you from predicting the ending didn’t feel forced the way they often do, and there was even more to be revealed after the highly anticipated truths came out.
I cannot recommend this book enough. I know I’m late in saying so, but I’ll be reading every book by this author that I can get my hands on. If you haven’t read it yet, please consider it!
