A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston
5.0
“I needed to get lost in a book. More than I needed anything else.”
I absolutley adore Ashley Poston books and this one did not disappoint. I will admit that it took me a little bit longer to get into than The Seven Year Slip or The Dead Romantics, but it delivers on all the same emotional damage levels. The writing is so easy to get lost in... and who doesn't wish they could end up living in their favorite series. Elsy has had a rough time lately and so ending up in this perfect town is everything she hoped for. She is so thrilled to see all the characters she knows and loves, once she finally accepts that she's not hallucinating that is. However, she soon realizes that everyone is stuck... just shy of their happily ever afters because the series never got completed. She also can't explain the mysterious bookstore owner, Anderson, who she can't place. And who she also can't stand, but finds herself drawn towards.
I loved this book so much. It was a romance naturally but we also slowly see Elsy come to life again. Her life took an unexpected turn, and she had gotten so used to being the person she thought others would want her to be, that it takes her time in this town to own who she is. I always love seeing characters start to accept themselves and start to do the things that make them happy. Elsy's time in Eloraton causes some upheavals and some fun and as usual the book delievers the emotional trauma just when you think everything is going to go one way. I think the way this book ended was perfect and I loved everything about it. It was literally like an ode to readers. It felt perfect. It was a cozy feel good romance with all the adorable and fun vibes.
