A classic in queer Mexican literature, offering a view into the life of a homosexual prostitute in CDMX during the 70s. The writing style being written as if it were a recorded interview stands out in a unique way. It makes the reader feel as if you're in a room with one of your family members, who's telling you all about their wild past life you never had a clue about. Also, I personally enjoyed the juxtaposition between the narrator's humor and his incessant struggles. As it does in real life, adding humor eases the pain of talking about trauma. Conversely, it makes hearing (or this case reading) about it easier to digest.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Homophobia, Mental illness, Physical abuse, Police brutality, and Alcohol
Moderate: Classism
Minor: Pedophilia and Excrement
