I struggled some with this one. It took awhile to pick up but I did get invested in the story. There were some good twists. There’s some good themes and I liked the evolution of some of the characters. This family was really horrible tho. The way they treated their own family and others was horrible. The racism was heavy. At many times I really just wanted the family to have the curse fulfilled. They deserved it. While I enjoyed the story, I did find it a little underwhelming also. I wanted more spookiness and I expected more from a horror novel. Overall, it was enjoyable tho. 3.5 stars.
