Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
5.0
Oh Sarah Maas, you are the most amazing world-builder the book world has ever known. I wish that I have the moxie that Sarah Maas and JK Rowling have to create these amazingly complex worlds that drawn you in. I wasn’t exactly certain how to deal with this series knowing that it was going to continue for quite a few more books, but it has yet to disappoint.

I love the new characters, Rowan, Aedion and Manon. I did not love Rowan as much at first, but toward the end of the book, when we got to see his true colors, he was close to becoming my favorite character in the book. Aedion also seemed fairly awful at the beginning but is growing on me. I am excited for more character development in the future books. Manon was amazing, I loved her introduction into the story and where she left off at the end of the book. I seriously cannot wait to see where Maas takes her. She is definitely part of the story I cannot figure out ahead of time. Reading how Celaena really comes into her power and her struggle with herself and her birthright was really well done. I love Celaena because she so real, she isn’t just the perfect heroine, she is flawed and struggles.
Chaol continues to be one of my faves. He just is so good. He is loyal, he is strong, he is smart. Oh Chaol, you are just a damn good man.
Dorian and Sorcha were so awesome. I could have done with a story on just those two, maybe there is a novella in their future, or some damn good fan fiction. I really enjoyed Sorcha.
Gripes:
There were a couple points in the story I wasn’t sure where the story was going. The pacing felt more like a loop rather than a uphill climb.
This book has a bit of the middle book syndrome. As amazing as it is, there was a lot of build up for the next book in this story. That makes it hard because I do feel open and vulnerable about the ending.
