A spectacular work. The Novella was originally released in the newspaper - section by section. The development of the story was so well made. I can only imagine the addiction Muchado de Assis creates with his writing to his writings. I must read. A truly brazilian piece of history, literature and culture. Looking forward to delving into other works by Assis including the "The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas".
