The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst
3.0
This was a quick easy and HOT read. I've had it on my kindle for ages but have only now got around to reading it.
The main characters are Nick and Alexa, friends as kids they had a difficult time together as teenagers and now reunited as adults with a marriage bargain in which each party gets what they most need. For Nick that is access to his late Uncles business so that he can become part of an architecture project and for Alexa that means getting the money to pay off her parents mortgage. The two find themselves in a ridiculous ploy which turns out to be as much of an act as they both first thought.
There are very few secondary characters but the most noteworthy for me was Maggie, the best friend of Alexa and sister of Nick but I think her story will be explored more in the next book in the series.
The storyline was simplistic but the pacing was superb building up such a tension between the two main characters that the readers were feeling it through the pages desperate for one of them to crack. I think I will enjoy the other books in this series and I look forward to reading them.
