A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
5.0
Whoa.
This was one of those books during which the pages seem to fly by and you can’t unglue your eyes from the book until you KNOW. Such a well-crafted mystery with interesting and layered characters who are all connected in innumerable and shocking ways. I love a good small town mystery for exactly that reason: everyone is connected. It makes it difficult to narrow down your suspects, so I had such a good time trying to do just that. The tension of this book was visible and the stakes so high they touched the stars. There were consequences for the main character’s reckless and risk-taking behaviors, guys. Can you believe it? The detective faced consequences for disregarding any sense of self-preservation! Though the price was high and broke my heart, it heightened the already mounting levels of urgency and suspense, and I was genuinely unsure of what to expect next. So many plot twists I didn’t see coming and one of the most satisfying endings to a mystery I’ve ever read. Such a great read!
