Eve and Shep are the kind of protagonists you instantly love for their authenticity. What makes their relationship so believable is precisely their imperfection—their doubts, their awkwardness, and their hesitant way of getting to know each other.

The romance unfolds slowly, which makes it all the more satisfying. There’s no instant spark or unnecessary drama here—just two souls learning to coexist, to understand each other, and to see in one another a future they had never imagined. This journey is all the more captivating thanks to sharp dialogue and a slightly bruised, very Millennial sense of humor that makes the whole story delightfully realistic.

Beyond romance, *Ready or Not* subtly explores themes of motherhood, choice, and the unexpected.
It would have been interesting to dive deeper into what led Eve to keep the baby—her inner journey as she faced this life-changing decision.

The novel would have benefited from offering Shep’s—or even Ethan’s—perspective. Seeing his internal evolution would have added another layer of depth to their dynamic. Still, his character is well-developed enough that we can feel his growing involvement and emotions through Eve’s eyes.
