Savvy by Ingrid Law

A quick and easy read, a sweet and simple story, told in a VERY unique and creative voice. As an adult, I still really enjoy books aimed at the YA crowd. Books aimed more at the elementary ages (as this is) are sometimes a little bit more difficult to get into, as the generally just don't have as much substance ... but this book really captured me. As much as I liked this (and I REALLY did), I don't know that it would appeal to MY boys. With a female protagonist, and the overwhelmingly creative language (which made me smile, but I think would drive them crazy) ... it makes me wish I had a daughter who loved to read, so I could recommend it to her :)
This book also had mild religious themes (mentioning God, the pastor's family, Lester selling bibles) and yet it was just part of the story and didn't rub me the wrong way at all (as religion in some of my previous reads has).
The library didn't have this in digital format, so I read it in paperback ... I really wished it was digital, there were a lot of little statements or creative descriptions I would have liked to highlight (luckily, the quotes here on GR have several I would have highlighted).
