welcome back to the sinclair family & what a welcome back it is!!!
after being what seems like one of the sole people who actually enjoyed WE WERE LIARS, this prequel was high on my anticipated reads for the year!!
and it did not disappoint 🫢🤌🏼
everything you loved about the first book is BACK! we’ve got secrets to kill for, traumatic family incidents, houses bigger than my hotel, family ✨ drama ✨ (and boy is there a lot of it wow I thought the first one was bad!), and of course, “I see dead people.”
this time, the reader time travels back to the 80s to the summers of the sinclair sisters - and is it weird that I wished I was there the whole time? 🫠
the writing is impeccable and the chapters are short, meaning I basically flew through this one. and I wish I had the self control to savor the moment, but there are too many books to read in the world 😅
ANYWAY
I loved this one a lot, and it was wonderful how much more in depth I understand the sisters now! I wonder if that would change anything of how I read WE WERE LIARS - which still holds the top favorite place in my heart
rating: 4 stars
wine pairing: new zealand sauvignon blanc
