Time Regained by Marcel Proust
Spoiler-free review
It took 2 1/2 months to read all 1.3 million words of Remembrance of Things Past by Marcel Proust. (I also read nine other books over that time and worked on my own novel.)
I can't sum up this book without sounding trite. It is certainly not for everybody. However, it is so unlike any other book I have ever read that this alone made it worth reading. In a novel this long, it is possible to get to know characters well over the course of many decades of their lives. Other novels all feel incredibly short in comparison.
Recommended for fans of long classic novels from more than one hundred years ago.
