The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
5.0
My 100th book of 2020, which has been one of my best reading years of my adult life, weirdly enough, ranks up there with some of my favorite fantasy series of the year, maybe of all time. This is NOT an easy read, and contains all of the trigger warnings. All of them. Seriously, look them up before jumping in. It is dark, and sad, and contains exclusively morally gray characters. No good guys in sight. What starts out as a magical academy tale quickly turns into a no-holds-barred, fight for your life story of vengeance and blood. And I can't get enough?!?!?!? Maybe my mental health is better than I thought.
