The Icon Thief by Liv Rancourt
4.0
I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
Ahhhh i really enjoyed this!! The Icon Thief was a fast-paced, smooth and intriguing read that I gobbled up in no time! It was super atmospheric, creepy and mysterious all at once, and i loved every sentence of it!!
Set on a ship, a doctor turned thief has to steal an icon from a terrifying priest working with some very unholy things, and I was at the edge of my seat for all of it! Dr. Hugh St John and Aharon Davies were adorable when their attraction lit them up, but also they made a great team, working together to lift the stolen icon in order to return it to where it rightfully belonged. Aharon's story was exciting and i really felt for him, as his POV faced down the more creepy as fk parts of the book and the stakes were just soooo high for him! Pun intended ;p
And for the story that it was, I really appreciated that this was mostly plot with a hint of romance tbh. Their chemistry was tentative and yearning on Hugh's end, and super flirtatious and bold on Aharon's, and though a bit playful at times, the dichotomy really worked with the confines of the MM historical vibe. It hit for me, and i was pretty happy with the way everything unfolded!
The Pharaoh's Promise is turning out to be a wonderful historical romance series so far, and i honestly can't get enough of this! It's a total vibe and i am here for all of it! Can't wait to see what other supernatural mysteries and magic the rest of the authors explore in the remaining installments, because this was awesome and i want more of it!
