The pain of living, the ignobility of loving, that damn Chance! The most maddening thing is when the narratorial voice doesn't ever judge its characters; Mr Milan is lovely in his mysteriousness, and makes life's equivalent mystery (i.e., sheer randomness) come out all the richer. Love how repetitive it gets at times.
