Olivia Gatwood is truly a standout voice in poetry today. I had the pleasure of meeting her at a reading last fall, and I truly recommend you follow her tour schedule and watch her videos on YouTube because the poems are really meant to be read aloud. One of my favorites is "Alternate Universe In Which I Am Unfazed By The Men Who Do Not Love Me," if not for its message, then for its sharp turns of phrase and wit. Gatwood's poetry is accessible at first read, but each read following that offers more and more layers of meaning. Her poetry helps me to focus on my own voice and how best to share it with the world.
