September Girls by Bennett Madison

Okay? What even the heck was this. Not to judge the book by the cover, but this cover looked so lovely but the book itself... not so much. First off, the writing was just not my fave. Half the time all I got was just something like "I was sad." "I was in love." "Or were we lost?" And it gets quite boring after the first three chapters. I think the author was trying to be poetic and inspiring and to create a unique mystical love story, and I think the concept was definitely interesting, but they just weren't able to pull it off. The sections about the Girls were pretty mYstiCaL and all that at first, but they just got a little repetitive in a sense. Another annoying thing was that Sam was SO BORING. Like literally all he did was wake up. Walk around. Contemplate life. Be mad at everyone. Go to a party. Watch TV. Wait around for a girl. Like this was the whole plot, and I had such a hard time getting through it. Annoying thing number three: this whole thing was so incredibly sexist. Like the curse can only be broken with a virgin boy, and everyone loves Sam, and every single one of the Girls is described shamefully half the time, etcetera etcetera. Annoying thing number four: the book was so anti-climatic. The climax of the book was also very uneventful. It happened and I was like... that's it??? So, to conclude, I would not recommend this disaster of a book to anyone.
