Their Burning Graves by Helen Phifer
4.0
This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the 8th book in the series but all could be read as standalones.
I love Detective Morgan Brookes and the team. Ben is a great team leader and I love Amy's attitude and straightforwardness. Cain is also one of my favourites. The team work really well together. Morgan is still putting herself in danger to save everyone else with no regard to her own safety.
This book picks up almost straight after the last one. The team are still reeling from the events of the last book. I won't spoil it for anyone who wants to go back and read the series from the beginning but it's safe to say the team are all very sensitive and finding their way through.
The case itself is horrific. Helen never fails to give me nightmares after reading her books. While very graphic the writing is gripping and addictive. I was awake at 3 am because I just had to find out what would happen. I thought the killer was quite obvious from early on and for me it was all about the chase. Were Morgan and the team going to work it out in time.
A thrilling and tense addition to the series.
