All the raving reviews you’ve seen of this? They’re so so so true.

I’d like to wipe my memory immediately and read this again and again and again!

The world ML Wang built was phenomenal. I loved the magic system, the writing of spells. Sciona was such an amazing FMC. THIS is what I want out of my fantasy books. Without being 1,000 pages, Wang delivered a well thought out and complex world, characters with depth and development, and a plot that kept readers engaged and entertained.

Overall, I cannot recommend this enough. I’m not even sure how to put into words how wonderful of an experience this book was. Despite making me cry and getting my heart and soul torn to shreds, I found the over arching message of this story to be incredibly impactful and well done.

I was in tears as Sciona uncovered the truth about her society, the way her people prospered. And then I was in tears again as her family rejected her for bringing the truth to light. I agree with Thomil that she was rather naive to think the people would be able to accept this truth - they see themselves as superior being, the master race. The Us vs. Them mentality is so heavily imbedded in their upbringing, you can’t expect that to be undone in a moment. It even took Sciona a moment to come to terms with it herself.
