this reads like an insert fanfiction - and I absolutely loved it! how many of us didn’t dream about being transported to a magical land where we’re royalty? except in romy’s case, she’s a princess who just betrayed her entire land 👀

this story was an introduction to this confusing and intricate world, and while I’m still a little lost when it comes to the lands and conflicts, the royalty deception game always gets me 😮‍💨 I love a good hamlet inspired fic okay

both romeria and xander were excellent characters, each wanting more answers and a better system for their land 🥹 we have to stan rulers who actually care for the betterment of their people okay!!!

since this book was used more as an introduction to all of the characters and the lands, I didn’t get the true romantasy arc that I’m used to (and I missed it sm!) 🥲🥲 but I’m looking forward to continuing the series and getting more plot heavy installments!

again, I feel like not much happened except to set up the next books - I still have so many questions!! - but I did absolutely adore the characters! if anything happens to eli, I’ll riot thanks
