I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
5.0
It's an other book that I've seen as a movie before I read the book and I loved the movie and I love the book. It's an other case of: movie and book together are awesome. There are some things I love in the book more (Henri survives longer, the "flashbacks" to Lorien, watching John learning to control his powers) and some I love more in the movie (Sam and especially Number 6 are way cooler in the movie, I like the way Sarah discovers John's powers better).
Henri, though? Henri is awesome in the book as well as in the movie. I love this character and I'm so, so, so sad that he got killed in both. :( I love that we discover more about Henri in the book, that we get to know that he was already a guardian for John on Lorien, that he was meant to teach him about Lorien and his Legacy from the beginning. I love the father-like role he has in John's life and that he would do everything to keep John save.
John hits so many buttons of mine - the loneliness, the not fitting in, the trying to be normal but never being able to be normal, to find friends, his stepping up to Mark and everything. ♥
I didn't mind the love story as much as in the movie. But as I said above, I liked the way how Sarah discovered that John is an Alien better in the movie.
The book is written in a first person POV. Normally I don't like such books/fics so much but the book just pulled me in from the first chapter on. I loved reading about John's thoughts about Henri, Sarah, Bernie Kosar (an other big ♥) and everything else and when Henri died I had to take a deep breath to keep these treacherous tears at bay.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was the ending. It was a bit unsatisfiying because it is shaped to have a sequel - which I hope will come out soon. I want to know what will happen to John, Sam, Six and Bernie! :)
