All We Have Is Now by Lisa Schroeder

I L-O-V-E-D this book!!!!!!!

While the summary led me to believe I would read the simple story of two teenagers facing inevitable death, it was much more than that. It was a love story. It was a story of feeling alone and finding home with specific people instead of a specific place. It was a story of dealing with your past when it's all you've got left to do. It was a story of passing it forward. But, most of all, it was a story telling you that, no matter how bad things are, there's always a silver lining from living in the moment. Right here, right now, there is something good around you. And you can find it if you look closely enough.

I also enjoyed the little poems scattered in-between chapters. All from Emerson's POV, depicting her life before or since she ran away. For me, it brought a little something more, like I got closer to Emerson's character by reading those poems that sounded almost from a 1st person narrative (instead of 3rd like the rest of the book).

I will probably buy this book, if only to read it when I'm feeling down. I think it's the kind of novel that can make you feel a little better when you need it.
