Lord of Emperors by Guy Gavriel Kay

5.0

Sailing to Sarantium was narratively-speaking quite straightforward, with only one point of view. Lord of Emperors is much more ambitious. The stakes are much higher: we get political intrigue, theological clashes, character development, heart-ache, etc. In my opinion, this is the most accomplished Kay novel up to that point (I haven't read the rest of his bibliography yet!).
