It paints a vivid picture of the plight of Koreans living in Japan during colonial times and many years later into more recent years as they faced the unrelenting bias of their former oppressors. I felt like this book had all a timeless charm of Gone With The Wind but with its own oriental essence that resounds in a deeply meaningful way.
