Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
4.0
I could swear I wrote a pretty generic review, at least… but it’s not here.
Liked this book a lot. Listened to part of it and read the whole thing. The audiobook is excellent.
It’s a very good book with an original story, but it didn’t quite hit the level of other books we’ve read lately (Lessons in Chemistry, Hello Beautiful, The Swimmers or of Tom Lake, which I read on my own.
I love that it’s a very gentle journey out of grief, unexpectedly starring an octopus who convinces you that he’s smarter than all of humanity.
The weakness is in Cameron’s story. This arc seems exaggerated. But maybe I’m underestimating the influence of the octopus.
All in all, I hope Shelby Van Pelt writes more novels. This one is certainly worth reading.
