Devon is the typical all american teenager who does it all and makes it look easy with the single mom that is raising her. So when the unthinkable happens in the alley behind her apartment complex, everyone is in shock and she is denial. A baby has been found in the trash and Devon is on the couch in extreme pain and quickly losing sense of the world around her. After being taken to the hospital, she is arrested and transported to the detention center for teens. While there, we learn her story told by Devon to her attorney is either a calucated plan to dispose of IT( devon refers to the baby this way) and resume her life or she was in complete denial and never knew she was pregnant. At times I wanted to shake Devon and say you need to pay attention to your attorney or you will be in jail or life. The author did a superb job of researching this disturbing subject matter and keeping it realistic. As for the ending, all actions have rewards or consquences and Devon must accept the consquences for her actions.
