This is my favorite of his books, hands down. Of course everyone's raving that you just can't do any better than Middlesex. But if you're smart, and Mr. Eugenides clearly is (he also has the best birthday EVER, and people with that birthday are notoriously brilliant), you can outdo it by writing an entirely different sort of book. I honestly don't know how to describe what sort of book it is. It's like a short story. But long. I don't necessarily think that this would be everybody's favorite book. Middlesex is clearly better suited to a wide-range of people. But this book appeared to be written just for me. Thanks, Mr. Eugenides!
