In my bookish world, 2023 started by finishing two novellas by the great Greek modern classic author Georgios Viziinos (I have no idea how to spell his last name in English). The first one you see in this image is titled Who Was the Murderer of My Brother? This is a brilliant work! It was published first in 1883. The narrator is a Greek man who tells the story of his family, mainly the story of his mother who is set to find the murderer of his brother. His mother seem to be unable to find peace until she finds the murderer to bring him to justice and avenge her son's death, so they continue searching. The question (as is also posed in the title) that Viziinos raises in this novella is not so much a practical one (who killed) but a moral one (who is guilty). The answer to that question is left for us to decide...
